Dry Dock Inn, hotel in Kure Beach

Located in Carolina Beach, a 2-minute walk from Carolina Beach, Dry Dock Inn has accommodations with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and barbecue facilities.

The location was great but so are a lot of other hotels that are brand new and have a lot of amenities. Dry Dock should not be charging these hotel prices. We are willing to give up amenities for a more affordable price.

We stayed in Kure Beach in the winter time so it was pretty much a ghost town, which is what we wanted. We had to drive a couple miles daily to Carolina Beach to eat and shop but it was a gorgeous drive. The Civil War history of Fort Fisher is a MUST for any American history buff. The Fort Fisher aquarium was a nice visit as well and worth the few bucks admission. Our favorite meal was in Carolina Beach at The Hang Ten Cafe, new parking in the rear of the place so don't pay to park. We hiked the basin trail, beautiful, but had to stop at the end of the salt water marsh bridge as the water flooded the trail, just needed water proof shoes to see the WW2 bunker and look out. As with any beach town, be ready to pay to park, everywhere.

The beach was what we liked the most.

The beach was what we liked the most. Some of the eating establishments were also good. The battlefield and the aquarium were good points of interest. We happened to be there during the kite festival and we really enjoyed that. The ferry to South Port was fun and on time. South Port is a cool little town.

The beach is so clean and it was so peaceful.

The beach is so clean and it was so peaceful. Walking distance to Big Daddy's, Jack Mackerells and out favorite resturant was the Kure Diner next to the Pier. A short ride to Venny's the Best Pizza Ever!! Walking on the boardwalk and beach was great. Not far from the Aquirum and the Fort. Lots of shops just a short distance away. It is easy to get around the Kure, Carolinia Beach and other areas close by.

Love this beach it is very old school with lots of retiree's it's crowded in height of summer but all family you don't see the crazy twenty something party crowd. Which is what I prefer. Best places to eat are in Southport the Provision Company, Moore Street oyster bar, in Carolina Beach,Cape fear seafood company they were featured in Our State magazine for best shrimp and grits. Also Calabash Captain Nances killer fried seafood platters. For activities we liked taking long walks on the beach, and walking on Carolina Beach board walk .
